About Us
Our Mission
"Preserving the Future of Fishing by taking ownership and responsibility for our actions on or around the waters."
The Marsh Creek Bass Club was formed in the mid 1980’s and currently has a membership of senior and junior members. Our namesake lake, Marsh Creek, is the home of many of our Club and Open tournaments. We are a non-profit, non federated organization holding an average of 12 closed club tournaments a year & 2 open tournaments. We fish most local lakes, the Susquehanna River, the Potomac River & the Chesapeake Bay. Other lakes in the state of Pennsylvania that are normally on the tournament schedule include Raystown Lake, Sayers Dam and Beltzville Lake.
CHIP Project The Club has been the cooperators of CHIP (formally the Adopt-A-Lake program) in conjunction with the PA Fish & Boat Commission at Marsh Creek State Park for the past 12 years. In 2009 we will begin our 13th consecutive year in the program. During this time we have strategically placed shallow water spawning structures, vertical plank structures, porcupine, junior porcupine cribs, deep water structures as well as rock rubble piles, in an effort to preserve the resource of both small & large mouth bass. All of this benefiting and improving the habitat for both species of micropterus salmoides or as we frequently call them, BASS. Also in the past years we have coordinated with the State Park at Marsh Creek to fell numerous trees into the lake providing structure and cover for all types of fish, including panfish. We are also active members of the community and each year participate in the annual Earth Day clean up conducted by the Park. During this time we work in conjunction with other volunteers to clean up the areas around the lake that receives heavy foot traffic from the fishing population. It’s our honor and responsibility as dedicated sportsmen to work with the State Fisheries Commission, PA Fish & Boat Commission and the State Parks personnel. We firmly believe that it is our obligation to be held accountable as environmental stewards of the resources available to us now and for future generations.
